Some people are quite concerned with staying in the workout groove while up on vacation at their lake house. With so much natural beauty surrounding you and plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities, it's easy to incorporate healthy habits into your daily routine. Here are a few ways to keep your fitness game on point:
Go for a swim. One of the best ways to stay fit while living on the lake is to go for a swim. Swimming is a low-impact, full-body workout that's easy on the joints and provides a great cardiovascular workout. Plus, it's a fun and refreshing way to cool off on a hot summer day.
Go for a walk or run. If you enjoy walking or running, the lake is a great place to do it. The scenery is beautiful and the fresh air is invigorating. You can even mix things up by trying out different routes and exploring different areas of the lake. If your lake isn't surrounded by roads or trails conducive to a walk or a run, there are many hiking trails to explore in Oneida and Vilas counties.
Use a human powered boat. Paddleboats, kayaks, and canoes are all excellent options for a low-impact workout on the water. And if you're feeling adventurous, but would rather not power your own boat, you can even try your hand at water skiing or wakeboarding. You will use muscles you didn’t even know you had!
Try stand-up paddleboarding. Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is a fun and challenging way to stay fit while living on the lake. It's a full-body workout that engages your core, arms, and legs, and it's a great way to improve your balance and coordination.
Go fishing. If you're a fan of fishing, the lake is a great place to do it. Not only is it a relaxing and enjoyable activity, but it also provides a bit of a workout, especially if you're standing on the shore casting your line or wading into the water.
No matter what your fitness goals are, the important thing is to find activities that you enjoy and that work for your lifestyle. With a little effort and creativity, you can easily incorporate healthy habits into your daily routine and enjoy the many benefits of living on the lake.
