Katherine Lake

View of Katherine Lake, the 524 acre lake in Minocqua, Wisconsin

Katherine Lake is one of the premier lakes in the Minocqua area. With 524 acres of water, roughly 22 feet of clarity, and an average depth around 16 feet, it delivers the kind of clean, swimmable, blue-water look buyers consistently chase.

Despite being just minutes from downtown Minocqua, much of the shoreline remains undeveloped or held in larger parcels. With only about 10 owners per mile and more than 5 acres of water per owner, Katherine feels more spacious and refined than many in-town lakes.

Its combination of strong water quality, attractive shoreline, and immediate access to restaurants, shopping, and marinas has made it one of the most sought-after addresses in the area. Boat traffic increases during peak summer periods—as you would expect given the location and quality—but the lake’s size and layout allow it to handle activity without feeling cramped.

For buyers who want high-quality water, long-term value, and true convenience without sacrificing aesthetics, Katherine consistently rises to the top of the conversation.

Biking/Walking/Ski Trails:
Bearskin State Trail - The Bearskin Trail about a quarter mile west of Katherine Lake. It is an 18 mile semi-paved trail that isn't groomed in the winter. The surface is crushed granite and the trail is pretty level. A trail pass is required for biking.
Paddling Routes:
No nearby designated paddling routes. The Minocqua Chain is real close is better for paddling than most paddling routes anyway. The water is clear and there is a lot of action to watch. It's an entertaining way to spend a few hours...or days, if you want! Sticking to exploring the shoreline of Katherine is not a bad option either, it's a beautiful lake.

Times are approximate. I just took a rough average from different points around the lake.

This is a summary based on available information.

Katherine supports a multi-species warmwater fish community, including walleye, bass, northern pike, musky, and panfish, with anglers taking advantage of its clear water and varied structure. Weed edges, points, and mid-depth breaks are key locations, and the clarity often rewards precise boat control and more natural presentations. Despite higher fishing pressure than on smaller lakes, the combination of depth, structure, and water quality offers plenty of opportunity for anglers who adjust tactics to conditions.

I had AI give me the coordinates for the launches I had on file. They are not super accurate, but should give a rough idea of where you can find the landings. If no coordinates were available at all I didn't link to the map.
