Minocqua
There is more to do in Minocqua than any other town in the Northwoods. It's a very popular tourist destination and thus there are a lot of local businesses that cater to the tourist crowd. The Minocqua Chain of Lakes is a really nice, clean chain. If you're the type who wants it really quiet, it is probably the wrong chain for you as there is always some level of activity. There are many great spots to eat in and around town and a lot of the non chain lakes in the area are really nice and a lot more quiet than the chain. Minocqua has a lot of national chain stores and fast food places that you don't find in the other towns in Northern Wisconsin.

Madeline Lake Trail - Loop lengths of 3, 3.5, 4.5 and 5.5 miles. Wisconsin State Trail Pass is required for this biking/hiking/cross country ski trail
syustem. The trails wind around three lakes.
Raven Trail - Loops of 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 and 5 miles. The loops are a mix of intermediate and expert level and wind through the woods and along the shore of Clear Lake. Bikes and pets are not allowed on the Nature Trail Loop. A state trail pass is required. Bearskin State Trail - The Bearskin Trail is an 18 mile semi-paved trail that isn't groomed in the winter. The surface is crushed granite and the trail is pretty level. A trail pass is required for biking. |

Guido Rahr Sr Tenderfoot Preserve Trail - A two mile paddle across Palmer Lake then down the river and finally across Tenderfoot Lake. There is also a land
route at the end around the Roach Lake and Mirror Lake.
WI River Centennial Trail Trip 1 - A 25 mile trip down the river. There are some portages by dams (both manmade and beaver-made) along the route. There are many landings along the route for take in/out and two campsites along the way. |

St. Germain has some great places to eat, a golf course, a weekly flea market in the summer and some nice lakes. Boulder Junction - Twenty-four minutes north of Minocqua. Known as the "Musky Capital of the World", more muskies are caught per square mile than any other similar sized area in the world. When you step out of your car in Boulder Junction, you don't even feel right getting back in. Manitowish Waters - Twenty-six minutes up Hwy 51 is Manitowish Waters.
