Stormy Lake

View of Stormy Lake, the 523 acre lake in Eagle River, Wisconsin

Stormy Lake is widely considered one of the top lakes in Northern Wisconsin. Its marl bottom and extraordinary clarity—often exceeding 25 feet—give the water a striking turquoise, almost Caribbean-like color that very few lakes can match.

At over 500 acres with significant depth, Stormy delivers true big-water presence while remaining lightly developed and forest-framed. Weed growth is limited, the bottom is firm and sandy, and the swimming quality is exceptional. It is often described as “a giant natural swimming pool.”

Fishing is secondary here; the primary draw is water color, swimming, scenic beauty, and that unmistakable wow factor from the dock. Stormy consistently ranks among the elite tier of Northwoods lakes for buyers who prioritize water quality and visual impact above all else.

This is a summary based on available information.

The Stormy Lake association notes that the lake is not particularly known as a numbers fishery, but it does support a sustainable population of smallmouth bass along with panfish and stocked brown trout. Sparse vegetation and very clear water mean fish commonly relate to subtle structure, depth breaks, and rock rather than lush weedbeds, making presentation and location more critical. Anglers who do well here often focus on early and late in the day, using finesse tactics, light line, and natural colors, or target deeper trout and smallmouth with more technical approaches. For cabin owners, Stormy is often treated as a swimming, boating, and scenery lake first, with fishing as a bonus challenge rather than the primary reason to own property.

I had AI give me the coordinates for the launches I had on file. They are not super accurate, but should give a rough idea of where you can find the landings. If no coordinates were available at all I didn't link to the map.
